I use a Dell XPS17 laptop for my DAW. I never thought that I would ever need FireWire so my computer is not set up for it, no expansion slot. Is there anyway possible to add it?

Yes. If you have an expresscard slot you can purchase a firewire expresscard.
Be sure it has a TI (Texas Instruments) chipset.
I have a Belkin one that's TI, I have a SIIG with TI and an AboCom one.
The reason I have so many is because every 6 months or so I do a total PC re-install.
For some reason the same card didn't always work so I'd buy another. Between the 3 I've always had a working card.
Sometimes it's hard to tell which have TI chipsets but I can tell you it's never the cheap ones.
All mine cost between $80 and $110.
You'll have to see if your expresscard slot is the slim one (34) or expresscard (54).
On my Dell Precision it's the 54 but also accepts the slim type too.

HERE'S WHAT AN EXPRESSCARD IS.

If there's no express-card slot, unfortunately there's no way to add a Firewire controller.

Thanks for your help. I'll just have to save my money I guess.

I had a horrible experience with a Dell laptop some 9 years ago. I reven returned it and they were STILL charging me for it!
Never again would I buy a Dell computer! Ever!

My Dell is working just fine. I wanted to add a mixing console to my DAW but without FireWire I don't think I have any good options.

There are certainly a lot of mixing consoles that connect via usb. Not sure what you mean by a good option.

How can I integrate it into X2? Give me some suggestions, I'm not sure how to connect it through my interface.  I have Tascam us1800 interface.
