I've heard that social medias like Facebook are trying to prevent people from sharing copyrighted material - including live recording of small bands doing covers... I am not sure how I feel about this.

Well... it's nonsense IMO but I find it kind of sadlarious that an activity that used to literally get people ejected from clubs (and worse) is now totally accepted as cool to do.

But yes... there are certain "artists" who could not exist without such fawning and vapid idolatry.

Then again, I guess it's always been this way to some extent.

Same as it ever was and all that rot.

PS: I hope you are all good, healthed up and happy again my displaced Frenchie friend.

I'm not a particularly sentimental fellow but I have been a little worried about ya.

Stay good.

I read about kids taking selfies on a visit to Auschwitz with their school last year... That settled it for me.

I work with younger people who have to be told - and constantly reminded - that you don't text and take messages during a meeting with your boss. How did we even reach that point?

Looking at the way we have "evolved" the last 10 years, I feel nauseated. Progress really does a great job reconciling me to mortality (mine and that of others).

I once interviewed a young guy for a job who sat down, looked at his phone, started typing and said "ok hold on just let me finish this, I'll be with you in one minute." Needless to say, that scuppered his chances immediately.

I saw a video recently in which a guy was filming the kids trapped on the school bus that got hit by the terrorist truck driver in Manhattan. The whole side of the bus was caved in and the kids were obviously in distress. As he filmed the kids with his phone, he was yelling "someone call 911." Seriously dude? People are so desperate to create the next viral video and get attention on social media that their IQ drops to single digits when they see an opportunity.

Times change, you use to get fined/imprisoned whatever for producing/ selling/transporting alcohol, now it's fine, and you can buy your alcohol producing kits and or alcohol in the local store. Wacky Tobaccy use to be illegal, now in a lot of places you can buy it in stores, grow it and smoke away to your hearts content. Having a gay relationships/marriage use to be illegal, now it's shack up with who ever you want, we just had a National survey on whether or not to allow Gay marriage, the yes vote won. and on and on it goes . . .

Remember when artists themselves would encourage the audience themselves to hold there cigarette lighters in the air and wave from side to side and you would see this sea of flickering lights swaying back and forth, today with the smoking regulations and such they often encourage the use of mobile phones in place of the lighters, of course not necessarily for the duration of the show, but still.

I won't tell the full story here but I saw a pretty brutal accident just as video phones became a thing and some little nut twerper was filming the victims with a sick grin on his face.

Let's just say I offered to feed that little bastard his phone and he scuttled off (after he realized I was not mucking about).
