Well, the sonics are stellar. As usual. I liked the sort of whale/string noise, and the big thing that got louder. It was pretty intense. I listened to it as I did my taxes.

I don't really know what your "trick" is this time, sorry. But it was a very cool listen. Also, I have no idea what the IRS is going to get.

cheers,
-Tom

Well don't send your IRS peeps over here when they decide you need a bit of looking into Tom!

Thanks so much for listening and I'm glad you managed to get through to the end

No "trick," to be honest. It's just that I haven't used percussion on any of my creations since my M81 track. Any "beat," previously, was created using sequences and/or the Tantra effect.

This piece uses two kicks, layered over each other.

One was a kick from my Drumaxx synth, which I tweaked quite a bit.

But I still thought it was lacking a bit, so I used a "kick" preset from my Hive synth too.

The "kick" part starts about half way through, but it is very subtle. In fact, what I have done here is routed the kicks through both Breverb and Pro-R, each of which are on their own buss. I set the sends to post fader, which allows me to drop the kick track faders to -inf, and then increase the send levels instead. So, at first, you are only hearing the 100% wet effect sound. Once the effect send levels get to the required leve, I then slowly raise the track faders. I thought it worked quite well

Cheers, and thanks again for listening,

Great description of that trick, Andy. I like the idea of 100% wet reverb with no signal, then slowly add back the signal. Very effective.

Thanks Wookiee! Glad you managed to get round to listening... Been busy with other things myself so I know it can be difficult putting aside time to listen to so much stuff.

cheers

Man, I always like your creations.  We are definitely in tune with dark natured or suspenseful material.  I can always count on you not to do any 'happy'.  Thank you for this.  I don't know what you did different or any of that, I just know it sounds cool and beautiful.  Post all you want, I'll just keep listening...

"The X-ray jets of Centaurus A are thousands of light-years long, while the radio jets are over a million light-years long"....

so, when you think about something like THAT,
and listen to this backing track, it all makes sense.

i like the atmospheric happening here..
but for me, this is just ambient sounds to go along with ........ something else.

not really a song, per se.....
and i like songs.

this is a wonderful piece tho.
i certainly dig the amazing gravitas of the giant heartbeat-type pounding near the end....

I do happy too, if you dig down a bit, and I do tag it as "Happy Music." But lately I am experimenting more with darker stuff.

Thanks so much for listening and I'm glad you enjoyed it

edit:-

Sorry Tim, I forgot to elaborate on what I consider to be different with this piece, compared to what I have been creating for the last twelve months or so... It was the beat towards the end. I have generally stayed away from any kind of percussion, although I may have used Tantra from time to time, to create some kind of percussion sound. If I do a piece with any kind of beat to it then I use sequences and arps instead.

Hi Rob,

batsbrew

and i like songs.

Yeah, I know, which is why I really appreciate your time here.

I don't do songs... Never will... Can't write, and I certainly can't sing, so I take the easy way out by experimenting with sounds, which has always been a love of mine, both as a listening and a creator.

I am so pleased that, despite this is something that should go along with something else, that you still listened through to the end and picked up on the beat towards the end, which, for me, was the star of the show, regardless of its simplicity.

Cheers, and many thanks,

What always occurs to me when listening to these pieces is that time seems to go by more quickly..I look at the timeline and 2-3 minutes have passed before I know it. With a song I'd be thinking 'come on, get to the chorus' by about 50 secs in  Splendid stuff Andy, a sonic treat. Like the 'heartbeat' drums a lot.
