It should automatically detect it.  When you first power back on, after installing the new memory, press F2 to enter the "Setup" (BIOS) and make sure the BIOS has detected the 16GB.  If it has, all should be well.

Well all the specs were listed on the socket and the memory. My problem is that I know nothing about what I am seeing when I actually go and look at these sites when trying to find an upgrade. Some list different things and different ways and the terminology is beyond me.

Fire cleared it up for me and the Crucial sites locator helped.  Actually what I found on the Dell is that it is VERY Limited but then not certain that even the guaranteed that the "ONE" the have available will even work.


Hopefully what we did come up with will be a good setup. My system currently works good with very little probs but why not upgrade an I7 systems Memory with how cheap it is now. Maybe it will eliminate some of the smaller probs
