  • My third ballad - a bit sappy - I admit. "Let's Stay Together." (new mix) (p.4)

Sounds great Mark! Very relaxing and your usage of chords "Which I have no idea are" sounds great!

Keep on keepin' on!

I have rarely heard this as a cover, and I think it's a great choice! I think you have great touch and some deft phrasing in the lead guitar department, plus your lead tone is great. That's where the money is!

As you look at the rhythm kind of arpegiatting? guitar, I'd try to make that less slidey-back and forth in the timing, so your lead can spring forth even more. It's honestly not too bad the way it is, and there's no sense of keeping a metronome going, either, when you are lounge-ing it up. I think you are close to the sweet spot.

Something weird at :50, like three hammer-ons?

Again, it's super chill, great song choice, great lead tones. Reverend Al would approve (I think - he has a reputation of being a little crispy if I remember)  so, good yob!

Tom, thanks so much for taking the time check this tune out. I think you nailed one of the problems I'm having with the rhythm guitar - I'm trying to stick to a click track - which makes it sound mechanical and lacks a certain kind of swing - I'm dumping the click track for future tunes. That wierd sound at 50 seconds is the bending sound of the string - I should have fixed that.

Thanks agin for taking the time to help.

Just beautiful, Mark!

I love that gorgeous, clean, creamy tone, and your excellent heartfelt playing let's the emotion of the melody shine through nicely.

I can easily imagine hearing this in a dark, smoky basement jazz club in a back alley in any major U.S. city!

Really nice work, buddy!

Have a good one!
Bob
