I am considering getting a Roland Quad Capture. I have an ESI Juli@ card installed. I understand only one ASIO device can be used at once, but should I remove the Juli@ before connecting the Quad Capture?

Not for performance reasons... but from a neat/clean perspective

It depends on if you are ever going to use it again. I "Disabled" my old audio/interface but determined I did not want it physically in the computer no more and took it out. I think Windows will keep the drivers in there anyway (XP especially) but even if you keep it in, it will be "Disable" (d) and not "Enabled" so the drivers are not loaded up then. Otherwise it is a hassle at least with my old audio/interface because I have to keep telling it that I do not want it to work (not in words but in running the OS and computer).

And it seems (unless I missed something) that you can not tell Windows XP to get rid of the drivers, perhaps that is possible and I missed something as of yet, I would have to look further into it but right now I have not, because I may just want the old audio/interface in there and not do anything music wise with the new one and probably would not need it anymore (??)

Yes, you can probably unload the drivers of the old audio/interface also, but can you get the driver patch if the driver was upgraded from the old drivers and since with my audio/interface they may have had several revisions of the audio/interface would the drivers with the patch be really the ones that I know are the ones I need that are on my computer right now anyway?? Without checking to see if I have the patch drivers that were downloaded and stored on my computer or stored on a CD somewhere then I would not possibly have the correct drivers I can get anymore and if the revisions to the old audio/interface did not change the drivers then I am not sure that I would know possibly. Unfortunately running around in a wheel cage for the company is not something I ever feel like doing to try and explain it back to them so they can send an answer that possibly not be an answer that I wanted to hear anyway.

I'd remove the ESI card it will basically be reduntant anyway.
 
I thought I'd get some benefit of keeping my old card installed when I got my Quad but I soon found out there wasn't any.  I occasionally will play a soft-synth live and sometimes want to loop back so I can record the Audio via WDM but it works just as well solely using the Quad anyway so I freed up the PCI slot.
 
I'd pull it out to start with and if you identify a need to have it later you can always put it back.

When I have left a PCI type interface still in the slot, they occasionally take over and screw Sonar up, Even with them disabled in device manager, the drivers must be still visible to Sonar or something. 
I think it's worse when you try to open an older project that was recorded using that card. 
In the end , best to remove it. 
What I do is install them in my office computers and continue to use them rigged to my home stereo and theatre systems.  Or give them to a friend. 

After you remove the card, send it to CJ. He collects them.

Ya, my old one was a Creative Lab sound card also (Soundblaster) and I still everytime I start up Sonar, I get a message from the card that states that I have no Creative Labs audio device (or something like that) that can use ASIO drivers in my computer. I say good, because it is not there anyway. (??) So I think it is Creative Labs trying to drive me crazy or something because that is their message while the drivers may be still in my Windows XP, because Windows also does not get rid of anything that much but I think if I took out the drivers and not have the old Creative card in then, Windows would not try anything on me either. I guess I have not done that yet, because certain Internet Chats will not work with my new RME audio/interface (it does not go low enough in sample rate for those websites) so I keep the drivers in for the old Creative Labs card just in case I want to be annoyed and hook it up (change audio/interfaces) for just some chats on the Internet. Lately, if the new card does not work I just avoid the Chats anyway anymore. Only so much time, and that is all for anything that comes along.
