I've just discovered Guitar Rig...seriously.  
 
Anyway...I've got my guitar going into my Grace M101 preamp then into RME Multiface II.  Plays and records just fine in Sonar but the pickup noise from the guitar is seems a bit loud, more so than with my POD XT.  Should I not be connecting this way?  It's a Fender Strat 61 reissue.  BTW...I'm not really a guitar player...hence the noob question.

OK...I think I got it.  Apparently the POD XT had a gate on just about every patch.  When I'd turn off offending components in GR it was squeaky clean.  A gate on the end of the chain made it behave.
