Weeping Willow Blues by Bert Jansch. At 0:54 (and two other places) he sings a line which is "???????....gonna find signs of love." I cannot work out what in the hell he is singing before "you're gonna." It sounds like it starts with "All around" and contains the word "green" but I cannot work out the rest. And yes I've searched high and low for the lyrics online - nothing doing. It's a traditional blues song but like most blues and folk songs there's as many different lyrics as there are recordings. None of the other versions have anything in them which would remotely serve as a clue. Any ideas? At one point I thought he was singing "green eggs," maybe in reference to those mourning doves. But the more I think about it the less likely it seems.

Not, sure, maybe...

"all around claim her"

"All around well clean air..."

That may not be what he's actually saying but phonetically it would work.

Contextually it seems to kind of work too in a weird way. I might be able to figure it out better if I had the rest of the lyrics.

Interesting that you're both hearing things other than "green." I've been trying to rack my brains along those lines as well. I keep coming up with similar ideas that fit with the syllables he's singing but which don't make any sense lyrically.

I also considered "green hair" because maybe a willow tree looks like it has green hair.

But what puzzles me, if that's the case, is the word after "all around." It definitely seems to start with a w. See, if "green hair" was right then "All around her green hair" would probably make more sense than anything else I've come up with, but he's not singing "her." It's baffling.

Just seems like an outdoorsy/nature type statement. Like he's outside in the breeze and there is country love up in the air (ripe for the pickin').

No luck here, thought I could hear it better listening to someone else like Wizz Jones, but the only version of it online (BBC4) isn't available now.

Edit: I'm going to go with ''All around wild green air, gonna find songs of love''

Hey, if it's unintelligible, then just sing it the same way!

I can't help but be reminded of this:

I like a challenge, but had enough. Best I can tell is:

"All 'aram' with clean air"

For the life of me cannot figure out that 'aram' garble. His accent evades me.

Just to note, watching in YouTube lets you slow down the speed with audio (down to half-speed). That might help you a bit.

Not sure, but it makes the most sense lyrically.
