hi guys i have just built amd 1850 8 core with asus m5a97  970 board with 16 gigs veangence 1866 with gigbyte hd6450 128 vertex 4  2tb seagate 64 cache 6 gig drive have delta pci 1010 sound card any tweaks come to mind used amd for a long time have only had 1 intell earlier on thanks for feed back i hear a lot about core parking does this come into the picture  eric

I recently built a new system with an i7 3770 CPU.  I disabled core parking.  Its a desktop, has liquid cooling for the CPU and I'm not concerned about the potential extra power of having all cores on all the time.

Run the DPC Latency checker and see if it shows any problems.  If not, since it's "not broke, don't fix it".

Hey Eric.. I've just recently built/upgraded my system and the specs are pretty close to yours. I let all 8 cores do their thing.. no problems yet.. I've really loaded up on the synths and FX.. barely moves the cpu meters.. I may not truly understand the subtlities (sp) of latency yet.. but I can say.. I listen with headphones while monitoring/playing/recording and.. frankly, there is no discernable delay at all.
I'd say you're lookin' good.. and as Firebird mentioned, (in other words) if it works.. to your needs and expectations.. don't screw with it!

The DPC Latency Checker is for internal PC operations.  The Latency for your recording interface device is a separate issue.  The DPC "Latency" Checker maybe should have be renamed something else so as not to consfuse its results with latency in a recording device.

An good example is a problem I ran into.  I use a Roland Octa-Capture that has low latency (if the buffer is set correctly).  I noticed I was getting some random clicks in a recording, so I ran the Latency Checker and it showed a large spike about every 4th sample that the DPC Latency Check program displayed.  However, I also discovered that when I installed my Octa-Capture on my new PC I forgot to set the buffer size for low latency.  When I did that the clicks in recording went away, but the Latency Checker program still showed the large spikes.  The large spike problem turned out to be a system monitoring program that I inadvertantly installed from the motherboard vendor.  When that program was uninstalled the DPC Latency Spikes went away. 

thanks fireberd i would get a hicup every once in a while in playback i change my buffer setting had to play with it a little and its gone thanks for insight on the dpc spikes love my new build i notice sonar x1 exspanded not all cores are even first core is running higher thanks  eric
