ABIDE WITH ME (Through The Storm) EDIT 2

(I somehow deleted the original post. Sorry! - pronounced: 'sore-ee' ... I AM CANADIAN! )

Hey all! After taking some GREAT advice from some experienced mixers out there on this board and who have so kindly taken the time to review this piece, I am hoping that this version is (closer to?) mastering-ready! Thanks in advance for lending me your ears re this redo.

CHANGE LOG:

* punched up the kick with parallel compression, eq adjustments & bxBOOM
* brought up the bass level a tad
* pushed up the snare a tad (and highlighted certain high-points for it)
* Got the 'rat-a-tat-tat' orchestral/marching band snares to pop out a bit more
* pushed up the vocal a hair
* pushed up the organ a hair
* tweaked audibility of the hi-hat with a bit of BBE
* repanned the strings (esp. at the end) to sit more evenly in the stereo field
* asked my wife what she thought
* she like-a-da mix now too

As always, feedback on the changes would be AWESOME and most helpful. I owe you all (as aforementioned) some equal time on your mixes, so a hunting I will go after I get this out to the mastering dude for polish.

Thanks so much again! You folks are so stupendous (why does that word sound like it should be an insult?)!
Best to all,
Martin & Nancy

This sounds beautiful and the mix is very clear, you have done a good job with this one. No critiques here.

I wondered what happend to it. Here is the link again to the story of Henry Francis Lyte and "Abide With Me". You can here the carillion of my local church playing the tune.

I liked the previous version, and I like this, too.  Now, step away from the mixer and enjoy it.

My wife and I have this (very similar thinking) saying to you here - cop-talk:  "Step aWAY from the VEHICLE!"  These words are uttered whenever one of us looks at the other's creative work and says, 'Stop frigging with it ... it's PERFECT!'

So what you're saying is it's ready for the mastering dude. Thanks! :-)

Thanks Glyn! You're a great asset to this project so far in many ways. Your connection and proximity to the 'roots' of this piece are, we think, no mere coincidence. Really appreciate your thoughts. :-)

Thanks very much! Great advice from you and so many. Feeling very blessed and more confident. (PS: I almost paid a pro to have this mixed for me. I was SO intimidated by the immensity of the instruments and frequencies I had to work with! Glad I didn't now. But I WILL pay for mastering!)  :-)
