Hi, I just received my new PC with I7 processor, 16 GB RAM and 3 HD. I'm using Sonar PE 8.5 and Finale 2012. I have Garritan sounds, EWQLSO, EWQLSC, RA, Stormdrum, Percussive adventures, Colossus. My question is : My old PC was P4 with 4 GB RAM, would it be of any use in my home-studio ? Do you think I can still use it for some purpose ? Thanks Alex

Use it for networking, downloading authorizations and stuff so you can keep your DAW offline if you want. 

Also it's handy to have something to do your more mundane office type jobs on.  Keep any printer drivers and similar ancillary stuff on that so you don't have to bog your music PC down with all that kind of thing.  If you network some of the storage space on it you can utilize the extra space for back-ups and stuff too.
