Expand your horizions, looking at other genres may help, even if they are far from your own musical taste. I would recommend looking at the songs of my favorite songwriter, Richard Thompson.

Or one of my favorites, Ray Davies.  This guy even wrote a brilliant and delightful song using quotations from speeches by Winston Churchill.

Use Wikipedia's "random" button to come up with a topic that you would have never dreamed of writing about. Warning: you might end up writing a song about some obscure species of deep water fish. 

I wrote a song called Coelacanth in 1981, that I still play to this day.

I wrote one recently called Clanculus based on a Wikipedia random page. 

You just need to look around you. All sorts of things are going on besides love. 

Just observe and let your subconscious do the work. Write about your friends.... listen to Bruce Springsteen and how he describes his days on the streets of NJ and the people and friends he knew.
