Hi all I hope you can help

I have 12 Gb of Ram in my computer and I would like to upgrade the ram but I have just found out I can not get the same ram as I have....

The Ram that is in my computer is OCZ Gold 3x 4gb strips PC310666 /999 @1.5v

My Mobo is in my Sig and I have 3 slots left that I can fill

Since I cant buy the same ram as I already have what should I do ?

Can I use a different brand or am I going to have to take the OCZ out if I want to upgrade ?

You can probably add memory from a different vendor. You do not say what the model number or other specs of your memory are. Can we assume that they are installed in a supported triple channel configuration? In many cases, using a different brand  of module is workable  (sometimes even with different timings) if they are not sharing the same channel. If you can match the timings timings from another brand of memory you will have a better chance of success. In general the recommendation that all the memory be of the same model is done so that the automatic configuration in the bios does not have a problem. So you may have to do some tweaking in the bios to get two different brands to play nicely together. And you might have to go to dual channel mode, since your bios settings seem to be restricted to three channels in which case you would have one odd memory stick.

Your motherboard email  tech support may be able to suggest compatible modules, as may the tech support for the memory manufacturer of the modules that you think may work. And a much better place to post a question like this can be found here here.

I did forget to say I think that the ram is timed in my Bios at 8 8 8 16 but I would need to check.

Considering the price of memory, you may just want to buy new memory and bite the bullet on the old OCZ memory. 

I would check the Gigabyte site and what memory is listed as compatible with your motherboard, to avoid potential problems. 

The 16GB of GSkill DDR3 memory I used in my new build was $120.

I have sorted out all the issues If I wanted to get another brand of ram to go in my rig but one thing is confusing me

On the Ram it says the timing is 9 9 9 20 @ 1.5V

The OCZ website says its timed at9 9 9 20 @ 1.65v

And in my Bios it Reads 8 8 8 16 @1.5V

Can anyone tell me why the Bios would be reading it that way ?

Your computer says that your memory is faster than OCZ says.
Does your computer work, any problem that you can trace to memory problems?
...if not...  then its just fine... keep the current settings.

Nothing to worry about.... the motherboard ( EFI/Bios ) is automaticaly identifying the settings of the RAM as soon you are hitting the "On button". If your computer doesnt suffer from some strange issues that you can trace to some kind of memory problem, and if you suspect that it can relate to the fact that your memory actualy are slightly "overclocked".
The you can leave it that way.... no need to set down the timing of your RAM to the manufacturers recomendations.

But....IF you DO have problems, then i strongly suggest that you are manually configure EFI/Bios with the specified settings for that particular memory.
