It was a company that has been shut down.  The employees were all deported back to Israel. Do you remember many years ago on 20/20 about a moving company that scammed 500 families? We were one of them.  In fact, I was one of the 50 Federal witnesses in the case and had to testify in federal court in the state of Washington.

Given the constraints you mention, that's quite remarkable! Cool tune for the right gal, and 20 years says she must be!

I also got REO Speedwagon fwiw and hey why not?
So, that's late 70's, when they broke into the bigtime. Just a Teknikality.

cheers,

I can definitely hear the influences. Your voice isn't bad, I think you just need to change your processing so you aren't reinforcing the nasal-ness. At least you sing on pitch

The instrumentation came together really well, with the big 80's drum sound and everything. Well done!

Great song, lovely 80s touch. :)

Gregg, this is a really nice tune with a good arrangement and a solid mix, but I have to echo Dan's comments on the vocal processing.  I would definitely revisit that and experiment with some different plugs or settings.  Nice job, though... I'll bet the wife was thrilled.

Thanks.  Typically, on my more electronic music, I use plugs that work for the genre, and I'm ok with it.  I will have to play around a little with this and see what I can come up with!

Thanks all!

Sorry to hear about the vocal issues Gregg but I agree one brave peep to still go for it.  Like the others have said just needs a touch of surgical EQ, very narrow notches on the resonances and probably a little high cut on your vocal reverb.

Gregg, this is a terrific song with nice chord changes throughout.  The arrangement is good, and the separation and panning is very nice.  I like that wide open sound.  The only thing that stood out was the overall EQ, which was pretty bright on my KRK Rokkit 8's.  I usually don't recommend tips on EQ, but I think this might sound interesting if you cut about 2db's @ 3kz, or somewhere in that neighborhood.  I suspect that the warmth is there but overwhelmed by the upper mids.  Still, this is a vintage sounding gem.

Nice job!   I think you've got that early 80's feel pretty nailed down.   Arrangement works, overall mix works, and for someone who doesn't like to sing, it really works.

For the lead vocal tone/mix, I'd be tempted to try a dynamic EQ if you have one.  For whatever reason the harmonies don't seem to have as much of that edge.
