Using Firefox 56.0.1 here and the pages are almost instant.

It may not actually be youtube that is the issue. Links sometimes bounce through some google metric sites or pull in ad sites for cookies and the like. It could be your system is having trouble getting to one of those and that is slowing down the overall loading.

Have you tried changing the DNS servers in your WAN config? When I used the default Verizon DNS server, I found they would bounce through or block some URL's (perhaps those sites were down). Try using 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (google primary and secondary) for your DNS servers and see if it makes any difference.

Got Comcast down there?

No, it's a relatively small outfit called Wave.  But I think you're on the right track.  Since most folks experience little delay for these types of threads, it could very well be my ISP that is to blame for the poor response.

As I mentioned above, I was getting abysmal speeds, lag and drops with the default gear I was given.  Complaining didn't accomplish much, so I replaced everything with better gear and now I'm lovin' my connection!

That will all change when the current administration does away with that silly socialistic notion called Net Neutrality. Finally, we'll have the freedom to pay extra for our internet bandwidth. Sure, those losers who refuse to pay will be throttled back to free up bandwidth for the rest of us, but screw 'em.

Edge takes 2 seconds. It took 10 seconds to open the 'Now Playing' thread, which is 39 pages of embedded YouTube links.

At work: Edge took 2 seconds to load the Now Playing thread for me.

Broadband speed is pretty poor here - still.

You could say that I'm fortunate to have the equivalent of 25% of my home bandwith here at work.

I just wish CW would get APG to fix all the Chrome issues. Or, get another forum software provider (a big job that, I'm sure).

For now I only open Edge for Gmail and the forum. At work (with the reduced bandwith compared to home, somethings about Edge are clunky...reminds me of IE in that way).

I sure hope that is sarcasm.

No issues here.  Just turn embed autoplay off in Chrome setties (provided you usie Chrome)...and I left the typo for fortune cookie reasons.
