Hi everyone,

I am just getting into plug-in development. I have been searching the tools provided by Cakewalk (DXi2 and Surface SDK) and they seem quite outdated.
I tried to follow the instructions included in the DXi2 kit but I am getting stuck because i don't know witch software is required to use the Apps wizard included in the kit ( I don't have VC6 ).
I am quite lost on what to do next and how to approach plug-in development using those tools. I would appreciate any kind of advice I could get from you guys.

Thanks a lot.

Are you sure you want to develop new DXi plug-ins? Cakewalk has not developed a new DXi plug-in in years. Very few host support the plug-in format.

My idea is to create a MIDI plug-in that will help the students of my university. They use SONAR so I started looking first what tools cakewalk offered.
I am totally newbie in this so maybe I am getting to a dead end. What could be my next steps? Is there any friendlier way to start with plug-in development for SONAR?

The most recent thread about MFX development is here http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2737740 SONAR has recently introduced VST3 support. Where there are going with MIDI plug-ins is an excellent question.
