More Like Me

Everything about you is so organized
Everything around you is so sanitized
You know I love you, I love you dearly
But why can't you be more like me?

I'm always running a little bit late
My slacker attitude I celebrate
The clutter competition - I win the prize
Living with me you gotta compromise

You can hear a faucet drip a mile away
You can see a spider web behind the stairway
Disasters and catastrophies are what you're watching for
I don't ever notice what the cat did on the floor

You are the prettiest woman I know you know
I wish you'd learn to go with the flow
Life would be perfect now don't you agree
If only you could be more like me

gtr solo

When I get home just want to unwind
You want to know  what's really on my mind
To read between the lines is never my intent
Whatever I said is just what I meant

Bills come around they can wait a bit
Don't worry so much, you can let 'em sit
The house could use some work I admit
Meanwhile how about we fool around a bit?

Don't adjust the thermostat
Temperature is fine just  where it's at
Do we really need to drive to the mall
The day is going great doing nothing at all

You are the prettiest woman I know, no lie
I wish you'd learn to ride with the tide
Life would be perfect now don't you agree
If only you could be more like me

You must be monitoring my life, Bjorn ;)  Sorry, I'm late to the party, but I'm really enjoying this.  I also like your song about aging.  We may be going down parallel paths.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the lyrics.

Yeah I find myself writing about aging a lot lately.  I wonder if there's a genre name for the baby boomer set?  And is there a market for that genre? I'm envisioning a Top 40 AARP chart.

Yes bjorn.  In fact the baby boomers are the only ones who still PAY for music.  Everyone else thinks it's a constitutional rite to listen to someone's music.  Must be the welfare clause?

Well I don't know if there are songs targeted toward baby boomers?  And I'm not sure if introspective lyrics about aging is all that appealing (body's getting decrepit, friends are dying etc). I think about those things and write about them but I don't believe there's a market there. Guess I should check into it.

Great lyrics to this song!  I love humour in songs --- especially tongue firmly in cheek humour.
Your guitar lines are perfect for this song and really accent the lyrics.

I'm curious - just what did the cat do on the floor???

Have you met Skinnybones Lampshade? She is your double bill.

OK, I think you have made an effort to bring the vocals out front, and that's good, but here I'd say maybe too much. The guitars seem to be about right, but the drums are waaay low and the vocals are way louder. I'd bring the drums up a little and just cut a hair off the vocal volume.

Keep it up, I need the smiles! Nice tune, especially for Valentine's Day!

cheers,
-Tom
