Very basic dumb question -
The Stellar Tube mic has it's own power supply-so to record using it with a warm audio wa12 mic pre I am confuse about the hookup order. Don't want to blow anything up, so please is this correct?
 
CM5 mic in to mic powersupply then out of power supply into the wave audio mic pre input and finally out of the wave wa12 mic pre into my audio interface (echo layla3G or roland octacapture) Is this correct?
 
Is the the mic pre overkill because of the tube mic power supply?

Congratulations on the tube mic. I have an old Rode NTV tube mic that I love and use a lot.
 
If I understand your question correctly: The power supply for the tube mic and your Warm Audio mic pre amp are not the same thing. The power supply is simply to power the tube in the microphone. The pre amp is used to boost the signal coming from the mic.

I think your chain is fine the only "issue" not really would be to check if the supply supplies the phantom power also. I have seen cases where they do and having it switched on somewhere else in the chain is just another factor to not to have to worry about if that is the case. Thanks.

Thanks very much and- Your right , the power supply "does" provide everything, so I need to make sure I do not use the phantom power on the Warm WA12. Glad that it has an led for the Phantom power on the WA12.

There is no reason to have phantom power on at the mic preamp... but it would not damage the microphone if it was accidentally on.
