Right. There will always be nasty, mentally ill freakwads in the world.
The idea is to not make their desire to harm EASIER for them... which easy access to firearms does.
Now this has been an ongoing point of contention in the gun debate for a while now but this story brings the point RIGHT home.
Bump stocks. Should they be legal? The answer is if you truly believe in at least some level of gun control and don't think fully automatic weapons should be easy available then you should be entirely against bump stocks... which are entirely designed to circumvent full auto weapons bans.
Now that's just an entry point to a much further analysis of this event and how it could have, at the least, been less deadly. Remember this guy was a completely law abiding citizen who had every right to own (under current laws) every piece of hardware in his possession.
So we are talking about a guy who was in ZERO violation of the law until he pulled the trigger... and managed to pull of the high score of mass shootings in the US.
I put the blame SQUARELY at the feet of the perp (and others like him) but if people can pull off this level of carnage without breaking a single law until the point of attack... well MAYBE there is something an eensy bit wrong with the laws as well.
But really... I'd like to know (as long as we're discussing it and the hosts seem to be ignoring this thread for whatever reason) first and foremost what our members think of the legality of bump stocks... which again are completely legal, designed to get around a perfectly reasonable bans on auto weapons (that most americans agree with... even the gun doods/doodettes) and absolutely led to an increase deaths and casualties in this instance?
Okay... GO!
