IBTL.
Why, when some drunk gets behind the wheel of her car, drives the wrong direction on the freeway and plows head-on into another car, killing those inside, do people not talk about taking cars away from sober people?
Because a car is not a weapon, expressly designed for the purpose of killing other human beings.
If you can explain how someone could kill 60 people and injure 500 more, with a car, from hundreds of yards away, that analogy might make some kind of sense.
OK, how about an airplane, then. Since we just celebrated the 16th anniversary of THAT.
The facts are that more people die evey day from automobiles than from firearms. (Which, by the way, are not "
expressly designed for the purpose of killing other human beings" either.
You are certainly free to not like firearms. Even to despise them. And also free to dissemble your opinions on them and on public policy regarding them. But while you can have your own opinions, you can't have your own facts.
