Well that took pretty much my entire day today! Ok, an entirely new mix.
* New vocals. I wanted to try my new Slate VMS. This is the U67 model
*New lead guitar parts
*New pedal steel thru out song.
*This is addictive drums.
I spent a lot of time with automation panning with guitar parts and the steel.
Reverb is Lexicon PCM Vintage Plate and Reverberate 2 Bricasti plate fusion ir.
No compresson used on main mix buss.
No limiter.
Main Buss consisted of:
Slate VBC
Slate Virtual Tape

MASTERING:
UAD Manley Massive Passive Mastering EQ
Used minimal compression for mastering. (Ozone 7 simple glue preset tweaked)
This is addictive drums.
I am a bit puzzled as I only Scored 9 on the TT Dynamic Range Meter. Since the only compression was a tiny bit on the mastering, that is kind of weird. Possibly I hit the 2 track 2 inch tape machine too hard?
Thanks for the comments and tips. Out of curiosity, have any of you done the crowd review at Reverb Nation? I did two tunes a couple years ago. It is brutal and if you submit a country tune, forget it. Some of the reviews were just incredibly clueless and some were actually mean spirited simply because it was country. I got a 5 on one song and a 5.6 on another. Positive comments like "I hate this type of music". It's a scam.
