As far as modern blues/rock guit heros/influences of mine I'd put Wilcox just behind SRV.

Kind of novelty songs to me. Good playing, good voice, witty writing but somehow (for me) it misses the mark.

Funny thing is I haven't listened to a lot of this stuff for years and ya... the "solos" are pretty arse to my ears these days but that dood kept everything else tighter than a proverbial drum. I think, as a young man and now as an old(er) man I glommed onto the sheer energy of the mofo. He just looooves playing/hurting that piece of wood as much as I do. Kind of like a George Thorogood deal.
