Overthinking
Written and performed by Staypress

V1
I've had some thoughts about overthinking
It'll get you in the end
Trying my best to stay in the moment
But my brain won't comprehend

V2
I've had my doubts about relative theories
The laws of physics are your friend
Understanding the space time continuum
But my brain can't comprehend

Ch
Did you ever stop to think and forget to start again?
Did you ever think to stop and disengage your brain?

V3
I'm paranoid my lack of meditation
Practiced as a daily chore
Will turn my conscious into vegetation
I'm not thinking anymore

Ch
Did you ever stop to think and forget to start again?
Did you ever think to stop and disengage your brain?

Middle bit
Give your mind a rest
Be at your best
Thought can be a dangerous thing
Get some zen
Remind me then
I have to stop overthinking

Ch
Did you ever stop to think and forget to start again?
Did you ever think to stop and disengage your brain?
to end
The late, great Gene Wilder

Excellent. The Thompson Twins or Fun Boy Three would have given their eye teeth to have written this. Consistent quality writing mate.

Yes, that's a nifty and quirky tune! Well mixed I'd say. I wonder if the "piano/mallet" thing in the background wouldn't be better with just a bit more volume, you have it mixed pretty low while you are singing, but it's a really good part and I think it could support the vocal a little better if it was a little louder.

I liked the plinky bits at the ending.

Vocals are presented very, very well. That's one "very" for the high part, and one for the low. Well done.

I like head tunes, and this is a particularly good one.  Excellent production chops as usual.  Nice work, Daryl!

The master of the couplet (and triplet).  This was a little more adventurous of a melody for you.  Bravo!

Listened yesterday on my cans sounds like your normal quality of quirky tune and thoughtful lyrics.
