Let's see who can figure out which chart topping (well chart skimming) 1990 UK pop hit ripped off this melody. I got it straight away - rather, I immediately recognized it, Googled it to check, and was right.

Kinda should like Heart Crazy On You beginning. But that wasn't the 90s

Hmm...  I just skimmed the top 100 pop chart for 1990 and didn't see either Led Zeppelin or Jimmy Page on there anywhere (and that's who I thought ripped it off of him)...

Hi,

Steve Howe had something similar but it's not 90's.

And I do not think it is a rip off, since this is probably more traditional than any rock song, which happens to rip off traditionals and other music a lot more ... is my thought.

I'm not a good one for 90's as I have not listened to "radio" or top music, since 1985 or so.

Understand that when I say "rip off," I don't mean they sneakily stole anything. I use the phrase flippantly. Of course it's a traditional tune with no copyright holders.

'This video is not available'.

I know it's 'Women of Ireland' but I don't know who borrowed the tune in the '90s. Kate Bush did a nice version of it though.

I have no skills at melody (or so I've been told ) so I'll have to pass.

Hmm I think maybe the video isn't available in Europe. Anyway the song was "Words" by The Christians. Very recognizable melody which I got straight away hearing it in that guitar piece.
