Kind of a Leonard Cohen song I suppose.
What I really wanted was just two tracks, a vocal track with a guitar strum accompaniment.
My voice isn't so good though so I added in a couple more accompaniment tracks.

I appreciate any comments. Thanks.

When I was younger
The story was told to me
The story of a  river
Flowing to the sea

Miles and miles of water
from mountains far away
Returning  to the ocean
Starting over again

Through all the changes in my life
One thing is never ending
The river keeps on flowing

When I was younger
I stood on the shore
It told me of the journey that
Began long ago

It  carries me onward
Past changing scenery
I don't see the changes
Happening to me

And though the days are forgotten now
The river remembers the man
As the child who understands

Below the distant clouds
I'm now able to see
The vastness of the ocean
It lies before me

The current moves faster
The course is straight and true
It carries me onward
There's nothing left to do

And the river flows  to the sea
The child waits on the shore
He's seen it all before

Hi Bjorn,

That's a lovely song. You might make the guitar solo a little louder. You vocals came across with conviction.

I thought it had a trance-like quality, and I think it's got psychedelic potential if you care to take it in that direction.

Hi Bjorn,

It was a lovely song, with deep and meaningful lyrics.

Regarding your voice, I'm wondering if it would help to try and "project" it a bit more, be more forceful, if you like. It sounds like you are holding something back. I appreciate that this particular song may require something more subtle like this but it might be worth trying something different. See what comes out...

cheers,

Tom, thanks for the comments
I tried to make the guitar solo stand out but guess it could use some more attention.

Andy, I appreciate the comments. Yeah, I'm aware of the "holding back" sound. It's because my vocals are way off pitch if I try getting more emotion into it.

Lovely, gentle song Bjorn - I love the way you haven't forced the vocals.
The reverb may be a little dark for the vocal. Maybe take some bottom end of the reverb?

Thanks for sharing Bjorn.  I love that folk singer (bob dylan, leonard cohen) aesthetic.  it's by far the most relaxing for me.  Great lyrics as well.

Thx for the comment. I'm not much of an audio engineer but I'll look into the reverb. I've heard that comment before so there must be something to it. :-)

Glad you liked the lyrics. I meant for them to be ambiguous and up to the listener to derive a meaning.

Allan
Thank you!  I appreciate the kind words.

Nice song Bjorn. Your voice isn't too bad actually, it might be worth putting it right up front in the mix, intimate sounding. That sometimes works with a 'fragile' vocal.
