I wanted to get my December song (The Way She Smiles) out before the year ended. I like the song, not so big on the mix. Please let me know what you think.

I'm gonna miss the things she never had to hide - love it.
The drums and bass could definitely come forward in the mix but nice song Terry.

Nice tune, you are shooting straight for the pop middle I think. I think the mix comes across as light on the bottom, so maybe pump up da bass some, it would help drive the tune.

Alternatively, you might slice some fizz away from those fizzy synths?

Vocally, to whatever extent possible, you might pitch the lyrics to a greater range beyond the interval (a fourth?) where they reside now. Perhaps towards the ending, pop in a different vocal run or something?

it's a very pleasant tune. Good luck getting her back! I bet this song would do the trick.

cheers,

Thanks for the help daryl, I liked that lyric line myself. Also, I've been taking some bass out using eq on the drums and bass. I like that sound, but I think I may be the only one that does. I think that may be what your hearing.

Nice song, Terry, and generally well produced too.  Mix could use a bit more bottom as already pointed out, and I'm going to cast a vote for cutting some of the top end off that one synth that tends to get a little hissy.  Overall though sounds really good.

I like the song a lot. Pure Pop.  you have a very interesting voice.  Sort of a mix between John Lennon and Davey Jones (that's a compliment).  Somebody like Mitch Easter would be jealous.

Drums sound in my opinion like a band in the box pattern, sorry, but it degrades the song a lot for me. And not sure which drum synth but it almost sounds like TTS-1 ?. So don't bring them forward, spice them up somehow with more realistic patterns and sounds.
Otherwise a nice , well yes,  pop tune.

Nice tune Terry, good vocal, though that hiss/noise on the Synth pad is a bit to much and as noted the drums are all a bit the same.  Could use a little more bottom end weight to.  Thanks for sharing.

Hey Terry, this is a very good demo of your song -- the mix is well placed and the instrument arrangement is terrific.  btw, this arrangement seems a little more complex compared to other tunes of yours -- I've liked other of your songs more but this production/arrangment might be my favorite. Good work  !!
