Really... I am so mad right now!!

I have never been a fan of all the so called "subscription" model. In fact, I hate it.

Adobe, for instance, requires that you subscribe to their many different Creative Cloud packages. I use Lightroom but I was so glad to find that you can buy this outright. But that is rare. Pretty much everything else you have to "rent."

Now Roland have jumped on the "Cloud." I could provide a link but I ain't gonna, and you probably all had the Spam about this already.

Twenty bucks a month... Doesn't sound expensive, but with all the other "subscriptions," whether it be software or TV (I hate Sky with a passion), all these subscriptions add up and, at the end of it all, once you stop paying you no longer have anything to show for it.

Did I say I HATE subscription services!

But Roland have said that you can keep one of the plugs at the end of the year if you pay for a year and do not want to continue.

A Sprat to catch a Mackerel one thinks.

Just wait until the "extended warranty" model evolves into rental for your Frig.  "Rent to Own" will become "Rent To Use"

I hate it too, but I understand why this is happening.  Constant revenue stream are increasingly important as margins get squeezed tighter and tighter.  EVERYBODY wants to make more money while less money for the things they want/need.

So you only have a few choices:
1.  Increase prices
2.  Reduce quantity for price
3.  Appeal to the "how much a month" crowd

ROI at the consumer level will be extinct in another 10 or 20 years.
