I shared many a pint with Allan Holdsworth in the 1980's (Guildford, Surrey, England). This is a fine rendition. I hope he listens to this one day,
Kudos

that's a cool story, dominic,
pints with AH
i met AH in charlotte NC, he was doing a gig at a small club called the double door Inn.....
a really awesome gig.
afterwards, folks were getting him to sign albums and stuff,
and i just sat nearby and watched....
and some dude comes up to him and starts talking to him about that album he did that he was so pissed off about....
really got him riled up, i was a bit shocked.
after, he was there at the bar more or less alone, and i spoke to him briefly, and we joked, and that seemed to chill him out.....
and we shared a beer.
LOL
beer, the great leveler.
i always admired Holdsworth for sticking to his guns with his music,
even in the face of poverty!
and that inspired this song.
i thought of putting a lyric to it,
but honestly, the guitar says it all for me.
it is supposed to be bittersweet, the melody....
that's why the extended outro was required (in my mind) to 'resolve' the bittersweet into happiness and celebration.
at least, that was the goal.
hey, thanks a lot for chiming in.
