Hope things didn't get TOO bad after the Mexico City 7.1 quake today!  At least 61 dead so far though...

Some of the news clips are pretty horrific ...one clip I saw shows a 5 or 6 story building coming down with people standing right close to it on the street ....

all the best ,

Up to 149 dead and 40 buildings down.  Unfortunately, you know those figures will both go up...

Just terrible. They're saying 20 kids killed in a school.

Unfortunately, there are two distinct classes in that area:  The rich and the poor.  Needless to say, the rich have better buildings and even some of those came down.  You can imagine what it's like for the others!  Of course, building your city on a dry lake bed in a high seismic zone isn't the smartest thing either.  When the ground shakes, the sand basically turns into a liquid and acts like a drum head amplifying the movement and providing no support...

One of my clients have a couple of translators down there and they had to stay outside until their building was cleared for them to reenter.  Just heard that they'll be able to continue work about 30 minutes ago.
