Thanks Steve! Yes, Vai is tremendous and influential guitar player and his bag of tricks is by far larger than mine. I wasn't trying to imitate him though, just covered the song I like to the best of my abilities.

This is very good Alisa, mix sounds great through headphones (snare is a bit muffled tho), guitars are excellent, both the leads and the clean rhythm strumming.

Excellent guitar work Alisa! I think the copy and pasting on the drum tracks is what weakens it. You could try some compression, and maybe patching the snare to a better sounding "room".

Alisa your guitar work is the business. Played great, recorded well. Totally works and carries the track.

Drums get noticeable mostly because your main loop must be fairly short? and it has a "flangey" crescendo in it from which a hi-hat or cymbal bubbles right up and then cuts off at a very predictable time. So looping that is the giveaway.

I don't know if you have Addictive Drums 2 but it's super easy to pop in longer midi loops and slice them and spice them. You probably know that already!

It may not even matter because you are a totally legit guitar slinger with cool compositional and arrangement chops.

cheers,

Thank you, James! Mix sounds great through all speakers/headphones I've listened to, and I have a bunch.

Thanks Dan! By copy/paste I mean, I didn't program every verse or chorus in a different take, since there's no need to do so. But all every unique part is played using MIDI keyboard throughout.  So C/P is not to blame here. What you call a "room" is actually a share buzz, and yes, there is a tad of room, just the way I like it. It's a dance track in its essence, not a metal djent thing.

Thank Tom!
There are no loops per se, just a sequence of verses, choruses and breaks in-between, each played individually, same parts were copied and paisted. And yes, it is AD2

You are right, I don't know why we discuss drums, when the entire track screams guitars. I believe, it's really down to listener's set-up and/or room.

Really great job! Nice playing all around. Lead tone is great as is the cleaner rhythm part.
I think the mix is spot on.

Thanks Jimmy! I do like the lead tone too, it kind of makes guitar sing and shine.
