I'm a little weirded out by the use of the genre name, but the title sums it up... White Boy

I'd been listening to some old 311, whom I was really into back in the 90's and still dig.  After practicing my slow groove 16th feel on the drums some more, I composed this together and finished it up over Christmas break.   All live tracks with acoustic drums, even the organ was left sans quantization, though I did click and delete some fat finger action.

Fun!  I lived in Florida and went out on the water alot.  This is the type of music we'd hear.  Reminds me of a warm sunny day, clear, and visibility unlimited.  Why don't you write some lyrics?

Sounds like this was fun to make!

Why don't you write some lyrics?

I ask myself that all the time.  I overthink them... I think.  I listen to stuff like Soul Coughing and wonder, why can't I just string a bunch on nonsensical words together like that?  Or Primus and wonder, why not make up a story about some fictional character?

I'll keep the idea open for sure, this tune is pretty well structured for lyrics.  It stands alright on its own, but I agree that lyrics could make it really good for a much broader audience.

Not really into reggae myself, but this seemed pretty well put together.

Great stuff - this is right up my alley music-wise. The Clash would be proud of this.
Great playing all round - impressive mix.
Would sound great with vocals as others have said but I enjoyed what you have here.

311 's always a favorite of mine. They and jamiroquai were real innovators.

I'm not really a reggae listener, but I liked this.

Cool groove, as always, and more guitar/instrumentation than I recall hearing on some of your other tunes. Well done.

Thanks Steve!

The instrumentation isn't complicated at all, 2 guitar + one organ track to go with the bass and drums.  I think the main difference is that this song is intentionally not structured as a bass feature like I tend to do.  So while there certainly isn't additional instrumentation in place, it's much more prominent and I'm pretty happy with how it played out.
