NASA intentionally hurled the Cassini probe into Saturn thus burning it up in its atmosphere to prevent a possible uncontrolled crash elsewhere once it ran out of fuel. Specifically into the potentially life supporting moons because they were worried about earth borne microbes contaminating any possible life already existing on said moons.

Conspiracy Theory I Tells Ya.

There is no Saturn and there is no Cassini.

Jury is still out on the spoon. Otherwise how can I eat my Post Toasties?

RIP Cassini.

And a belated Happy Birthday to Voyager 1. Launched 40 years ago on 9/5/77 and still going.

I would have posted this earlier but didn't know there were any space geeks here. :)

I'm probably not smart/educated enough to qualify as a roight proper space geek but that don't mean I can't sit back in awe at the wonders of our strange and complex universe nor laud the efforts of those who've dedicated their existence to unlocking its mysteries.

Also... space junk is cool to look at.

Saturn is a particularly beautiful blob of space weirdness. Seems almost cosmically poetic that it has proven to be the most likely to have life floating around it... and in our OWN solar system. When they started realizing and reporting that... well I think that was one of the biggest scientific revelations of my generation.

Of course the general vapidity of modern society barely registered it as a blip on their internal radar.

*le sigh*
