Which is recommended? Burning in wav. format or mp3 format? Thanks

Many people say you can't really tell the difference between a 320kbps Constant Bit Rate (CBR) mp3 and a 16bit/44.1K WAV file.

From a hard disc storage point of view the 320kbps mp3 is smaller than a WAV but from a CD point of view the length of the song is same (and thus the used space on the CD is the same).

All things considered I burn 16bit/44.1K to a CD. Occasionally I will burn a 24bit/44.1 to CD.

Thanks for the reply. Are most commercial CD's burned using MP3 format or Wav format? Is Wav format better sound quality than MP3's? You can burn 24 bit on to CD?

Commercial CDs are 16bit/44.1K WAV files.

I have burned 24bit/44.1K wav files to a home made CD.

I only burn waves. I consider mp3's to be for the internet streaming and for the ipod players.

Thanks for the replies. I have been burning using wav files at 16 bit because it won't let me burn in any higher than 16. Batsbrew - Could you explain dither? Also when I burn my songs and play it on the computer, it reads (Track 1, Track 2, Track 3....etc) How do I add artist, titles composer tags to wav files when burning?

Wow dithering is really confusing me... How do you choose what dithering option is best? Is it different for each song? Which is most commonly used?
