Thank you everyone for all the replies.  I really enjoy recording music.  You're correct I maybe have played bass less than 2 hours my entire life if that!  Drums is new to me as well.  I've played guitar/banjo/mandolin/ukulele the most as they seem to relate easier to me.  I've also been recently strumming a Merlin dulcimer guitar made by Seagull.  I have a left handed mountain dulcimer my dad made for me, but its really unique being able to hold it like a guitar.  Hopefully I can post some more songs on here soon.  A good thing about recording some covers within Sonar is the feedback I can get here before recording something of my own and hope to have more worked out especially with the constructive criticism which I appreciate having studied Fine Arts in college. =)

The main thing to remember about playing bass is less is best. A simple bass part played in time goes way further than a busy bass line not quite in time.
Even though I have many years live experience playing a real bass I often prefer to use midi for some songs because I can then fine tune the part. Not that my playing is out, but for simple bass parts it's just as easy for me to play it on the keyboard because for more than 10 years that was the only option I had for live performance. So I got better at it. You will to. That's one of the best things about this hobby, you get to play everything, good or bad. But if you keep at it all will get better.  I have become not bad on a keyboard even though it's not an instrument I'd ever play in a band. But I had to get better if I was to use midi.
