This is one my most recent political protest songs. "A Question, A Guess, and An Answer"
And I'll post it along with my usual disclaimer:  My vocal skills aren't the best, I've been compared to Dylan, Tom Petty and Leonard Cohen.  Thankfully Melodyne makes my vocals a little more tolerable.  Other than that, I'm pretty happy with how this one came out.

The song is divided into the usual Verse, Pre-Chorus, Chorus, and Bridge.  The way I wrote the lyrics were the verses offer questions, the pre-chorus offers guesses, and the chorus offers answers.  (The bridge offers advice)
Thanks for listening.  And your comments and critiques are always welcome!

The lyrics, delivery, and music all complement each other wonderfully.  Your "husky ? vocals are the perfect vehicle for this kind of sociopolitical number.  BTW, I can relate.

I thought it sounded very professional, and yes, Dylan-ish with the vocals.  Not really my style but I enjoyed the listen and can appreciate talent when I hear it.  Nice job.

"A Thanks, A Confession and A Question":

Thanks Daryl!  I appreciate your feedback.  That's good to know.
But I've always wanted to ask this (because I can't be very objective when listening to my own music) but if you had to name a band or musician that my music sounds like (vocals not withstanding) who would it be?

I mean I get the Dylan comparisons because of my vocals, but I don't think the style of music is close to Dylan's, or is it?

I don't think anyone came to mind (which is a good thing imo) but if you had to push me, maybe Tom Petty or Bruce Springsteen music-wise?

Lee, I have the feeling that many are writing socio-politico songs right now.  Your voice and style sound like a cross between Tom Petty and Dylan.  The song is well executed and mixed, which makes it all the more impactful.  Muchos kudos.

Thanks Lynn, as always I appreciate the feedback.   I find writing about whatever is troubling me at the moment, especially in situations where I feel powerless to do anything about it, I find that writing a song about it is very therapeutic (as I'm sure many of you will agree).  It doesn't really accomplish anything, but I feel like I put that pent up energy to good use.

Daryl, yeah I guess it might be a good thing to sound original.  I'm sure if I had a really good singing voice, the songs would end up sounding even more original.  But I'm cursed with that east-coast nasally vocal type that always gets me compared to Dylan and Petty, and occasional on sad songs, Leonard Cohen.

As I mentioned I'm a big fan of Counting Crows, and I love the way he writes lyrics.  Many of my lyric patterns are styled after Adam Duritz style of writing.  I only wish I had his powerful lungs....I'm sure smoking doesn't help either.
I'm also a fan of the way Rickie Lee Jones writes her songs,  they are very dynamic.... not the same old verse, chorus, verse chorus, bridge formula.

Thanks again for listening and giving me feedback!
