The Rebel
Hi All,
Seems like forever since I've recorded anything I thought was worthwhile.
I tried experimenting with some new ideas and put together something different.
Hope you like it. I'm trying to break out of the work mode and start playing more guitar while I still can!
Happy New Year!

Thanks for checking it out. I experimented with an alt tuning on the acoustic to try to find something interesting.

Pleasant little tune with some interesting chords.  Nice.

I like the chord progression too, it's a little different. When you did the fast pull-offs I was reminded of John Martyn. Could be an atmospheric intro to a bigger piece, or have a melody line over the top, some orchestration - plenty of scope in this.

The alt tuning certainly works and you have produced a nice bed to work other things on to, for example drums and bass along with a alternative lead line. Good stuff :)

Thanks everyone for taking the time to listen and offering some positive feedback and suggestions.
I tried adding other instruments to the mix but didn't like the way it changed everything.
There is some bass used sparingly but that's about all.
It's amazing to me that people from all over the world come to this forum and help and support other musicians.
Very cool and appreciated!
Thanks again

Is that a Gibson?

for the first motif/theme, I'd say that sounds unbelievably great. The tone is so deep, rich, clear, twangy, and ballsy!

the rest of it is great also, but I think for the other parts, you bring the bass in, and I'm not sure what you are using for bass, but it contributes touch of mud I think.  Look at your lowest guitar pitch, look at the bass - could you notch eq a little of that bass away at that point? MAybe you already did that . . . just a thought.

I'd hear an ending  that has a power chord at the end, sustaining, all the way to fade out.

Keep it going, it's great work!

I really enjoyed this.  You might want to experiment with the eq on the various guitars.  They didn't have the bite that I usually associate with acoustics.  That way if played loud one can really feel it in the stomach.  Thump is a free program whereby you can play with the lower harmonics.  Just a thought. :D:D

Tom - That's not a Gibson - although I did recently pick up the ultimate Gibson that I've lusted for...
The guitar is a Carvin California Carve top. An outstanding guitar in it's own right. I own a few Carvins and they are exceptional guitars. The bass does seem to muddy up the waters. In some parts it works better than others.
The 1st part of the song was what fired me up!
David - Thanks for listening. I have been experimenting with the eq on my acoustic.
The Expression system on the acoustic tends to add a lot of bass so I've been rolling it almost off on the guitar and trying to balance the eq in the studio.
Thanks to both of you for taking the time to listen and your suggestions.
