7 years ago we had two days of sustained 85-90MPH winds, it tore off part of the roof of my house. I cannot imagine double that wind speed.

Wednesday and Thursday night Irma was going right over my house in South East Florida. Needless to say we were freaking out.

Always a weird feeling being thankful that it going to mostly miss us, but also knowing it is going to hit someone else.
I am sure the german language has a word for this mixed feeling.

To all the Sonarites on the west coast of Florida, stay safe !

We're in the central part of Florida and hoping this (currently) Cat 3 will slow down even more by the time it gets here. It's the southern parts and coastal areas of FL that really need to get out. We were thinking of leaving the state as well a few days ago, but getting out was too crazy with everyone on the road very few routes going north.

I've boarded up the place and hoping it will be less than a Cat 2 when it reaches us. It's a great community over here and everyone has been helping neighbors with whatever is needed to be safe. Thanks everyone for all the prayers and well wishes....it's greatly appreciated.

Bugs Bunny actually figured out the solution to Florida's hurricane problems AGES ago but no one listened!!!

Then just attach a large sail or outboard motor when the danger is gone to return... or yanno, go on a nice little cruise around the world.

Even though I live where the earth opens up when a disaster hits I'm still keeping good thoughts for EVERYONE in Flo Rida.

For humor's sake, you can watch dozens of YouBoob videos that are claiming this is either A) a sign of the end-times, B) proof of global warming, or, C) part of the World government Elite's agenda with lots of "proof" that HAARP is being used to generate the storms, fires and earthquakes.

Apparently there are around 43,000 Americans who have pledged to "Stand Their Ground" and shoot at Irma in defiance.

Of course it's most likely a silly internet/facebook meme/joke thing but you know at least SOME of that 43,000 are serious.

I'm betting a Venn diagram of those you mention, craig, would reveal some overlap.

And hurricanes aren't proof of GW... all the other proof is... like yanno... the average global temps consistently rising in a steady pattern over many years. Extra nasty hurricanes with more frequency are just a symptom.

That is indisputable scientific fact.

Where it gets a little murkier is whether it's us causing the change. So although there is a preponderance of evidence indicating that is the case I am still (reluctantly) willing to give those who don't believe THAT is the case a fair shake.

But anyone who says it ain't happening at ALL?

Well good *fart* to you good sir.

I said GOOD *FART*!
