Ham N Egz
With Apologies to Zappa.. Had a Emergency Call this morning a whole building was down nework wise.
Its fed by a 48 strand fiber cable underground, then enters the building and runs through a first floor ceiling to a comm room on the second floor. Using a TDR I found an open @ 134 feet on the first two buffer tubes (24 strands) luckily the remaining 24 strands are good.

We looked for construction/digging and found none, can only supposition rodents or squirrels ate into the cable and the first trwo tubes.
Can anybody send me a hungry cat?

This thread just reminded me that I need to check on the status of a project that will provide a dedicated fiber line from Manila to Portland for one of my clients.  The guy at the provider in the Philippines that I have to work with just happens to be originally from Portland!  Not having language issues is a huge plus.

Hmm...  I wonder how TDR's work with Bubba's time machine...

That line will go through the Honolulu hub for sure. I see a road trip in your future! Sit in the outdoor patio at the Gordon Biersch there. Excellent view of the cable support ship when it's not in service.

Manila > Hong Kong > Honolulu > Los Angeles > Portland

Unfortunately, I only get to visit one of those locations...
