You ALWAYS do professional level stuff.  I could hear a lot of your pieces as sound tracks.  They're very evocative and compelling.  This one is certainly no exception.

I would expect no less than this fine piece!  I can't tell what is real and what is Memorex.  All so well played and of course the mix is pristine!

Thanks Warren! All but one of the guitars are my strat running though a Digitech GSP1101. The lead, of course, is not a guitar, but plays very guitar-like, if you will.

I liked this one Dan. Could have used some changes here and there but the mix and instruments sounded nice.

Thank you Scott! Yeah, but my goal on this one was to keep it simple. It was cathartic after my last couple, lol.

Dan

On the plus side the piece is overall excellent, as usual.  I particularly liked the way it built up at the beginning.  As a minor crit, I would agree with Scotty's comment that some more thematic changes would have been nice.

Thanks Phil! The buildup was a lot of fun to do, as was the big break in the middle. As I mentioned to Scotty, I wanted simple for this tune.

Wow, this is a bit different for you!   It seems a bit more soundtrack-ish rather than orchestral/epic, and it works well.  Really great dynamics from section to section, lots of interesting sounds swirling around, and that Omnisphere lead tone is anything but static.  I think the whole thing is alive.

Thank you Steve! Yes, I love that lead!

Really cool track Dan. Made me break out my Les Paul and play along!

Thanks Kenneth! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

this is a way cool tune!

nice arrangment, nice sense of space and dynamics......

all the chosen 'sounds' and tones are really sweet..

have to agree with the one comment about the snare,
it's not the best choice of sound for this particular song...

and i've very confused,
other folks keep talking about the 'guitars', but i don't hear any guitars!!
???? just keys.....
what am i missing here?

still, no matter, really cool tune dan

Thanks Bats! I am reworking the processing on the snare (started last night) to tighten it up and make it fit better. I still like the snare itself, but I think it could be better as well. As for the guitars, I think you are listening for lead guitars that aren't there. This song has a ton of rhythm and supporting guitars, but no leads.

Dan

Hi Dan,
Nice tune,
A whole story in itself.
( if Idare ,I would say it is just a tiny bit over compressed ..sorry,sorry ,just a matter of taste and it has nothing to see with the artitstic over all work)
Cheers.
Olivier.

Thanks Olivier! For this mix, I had a submix running into Kramer Tape and blended that back into the master. I also pushed the clipper a bit to get some dirt in the overall mix. That might be what you are hearing, but I also wanted it to be LOUD...so there is a cost to that.

Dan
