I had noticed that it was taking the computer longer and longer to shut down and things sluggish in general. Fortunately not my studio computer.
Today I got the message that there were 1000 active apps still running and did I want to force close them to retry a shutdown. Warning that I might lose data. Was wondering, who's data.

Windows 10 is why you need 8 cores to produce music nowadays.  It has nothing to do with the music software that would run fine on 1 maybe 2 fast chips.
 
Windows 10 is just a gigantic, "Death Star," sized OS.   Seriously, I'm using 7th gen core i5 kaby lake, and the thing can handle windows 10 - but coasting through it - not blazing through it.
 
I've tried lesser chips with Windows 10 and omg is it a sad story
