Hey all!
It has been eons (probably over 2 years) since I have posted a new song in this section.  I have grown a lot as a writer, a producer, and an engineer.  This one was written with my band, started as a jam then I worked on the structure and lyrics.  I am on guitar & vocal.  Done with live drums here in my studio.  No samples. Live bass (a DI & a Sans Amp), and a half stack guitar amp.  Organic as they come!

Bash it, smash it.  I don't mind.  Song or mix crits are fine.  Thanks for listening, enjoy, and rock on!   This forum is the bomb.  Has been for YEARS!

Hi Chuck - good to 'see' you.
This is really good - very tight sounding band. Love the guitar sound in the solo.

nice tune chuck!
i dig the arrangement....
it's solid.

maybe some porcupine tree influence?

i like most everything,
but the mix sounds dull...
there's some missing high end.

i also think the lead vox during the chorus section is a bit too up front.....

hey, i played in punta gorda years ago....
i like that area.

hey, if you'd like a very 'mild' EQ treatment done just for fun, as an example of what i'm talking about,
PM me.....

Got a Chili's vibe off the vocal, as noted by Bat the top end is a little lacking but other than that it sounds well here, thanks for sharing.

eph221 - Thank you sir!

Daryl -  Thanks man, I have been so busy lately that I hadn't had much time to get on here and participate.  About a year ago I picked myself up a TC Electronics G system to try to stop so much tap dancing on my pedals while singing and playing live.  I love that thing.   I have found that the modern rock lead sound is saturated to hell,  Hi gain with a little verb, some modulation, and delay then boosted to hit the amp hard.  Same sound ya hear in all the new rock stuff.   Chevelle, 3 days grace, breaking benjamin, Avenge sevenfold etc.   Glad you liked it.

Bats - I have never heard of Porcupine tree.   Glad you like the track though.  I listened in the truck today while running some errands and thought maybe I need to give back a little more of the top end of the guitars that I had low passed out to get rid of the harshness.  The other thing I noticed in the truck is that the kick maybe about .5db to 1db too hot.  If I really wanted to crank it up I could hear the speakers starting to want to break up.  I will look into it for sure.
Yeah the Punta gorda area is really nice since being rebuilt after hurricane Charlie in 04'.   Not sure how long ago you were here in Charlotte County.

Wookiee - Chili peppers huh?   Ok cool... I will take that.  Thanks for checking it out for me bud!

Good track Chuck! Love the dynamics. That clean delayed guitar in the verse is excellent, great contrast to the heavier guitars.

Has it been that long?  Well, welcome back.  Very tight performance indeed.  I like the "jangly" guitar panned left.  It contrasts nicely with the grungy sound of the rest of the song.  As a long ago graduate of Charlotte High, I am familiar with the Punta Gorda area.  After many, many years, I got the opportunity to pass through PG.  It certainly has changed from the olden days.

Very cool number indeed!

James - Thank you sir.  Yeah I don't do many songs in a Drop C tuning like this (I typically tune D Standard for most of my stuff), one because it is so low it's easy for things to get muttled, two because it's too easy to 1 finger chug metal riffs that sound like everyone else out there.  I intentionally wanted to make the verses feel lighter and more atmospheric with a jangly, delayed riff played up high.  The smash it with a heavy chorus.

Freddy J - Thank you also sir.  Yes the area has grown up a lot in the last 12,13 years or so.

Batsbrew,
Brother you are right sir.  Nice ears and thank you for the crit.  I have the chorus vocal doubled with one tucked in under the other at a lower level, I just backed the 2nd one down a little. and brightened up the guitars, backing off my low pass filters a little, then added a slight boost on shelf from 5k up for my cymbals bus.  Helped bring it to life a bit more.  Thanks again man.   Here is the adjusted track.
