...at my house.

When I moved here last June, I considered it a temporary arrangement and never brought in a TV.  Now, after over a year without, I find I'm only missing the occasional sporting event that I used to watch in the background.

Lots of music playing while I work though!

Did almost the same thing a year ago. Cable company jacked up the price 30 dollars per month and added a ton of hispanic, reality TV, talk show and home shopping channels.

We pulled the plug and went thru a couple weeks of withdrawal, but things leveled out. They inadvertently reconnected us but beside the evening news, never watch anything besides an occasional streaming movie.

Life has been much better without a TV.

Hi,

Haven't had a TV for somewhere around 10 years ... don't miss it at all!

Have you ever noticed how if you do watch a TV show after a long spell of abstinence, what it does to your brain?

Read an article about the effect of the first silent black and white vampire movie "Nosferatu" on audiences of the time. Cheap chuckles and archaic effects by today's standards.

People screamed and dropped unconscious in the theaters over the terror of it. Nerves had never experienced a trauma like this. Now we are numb from the continuous overkill. Psycho blood and guts on TV just part of every day sense over-stimulation that is part of "normal" life.

If I watch a TV show now, I feel a bad effect for a long time after if it is not some educational thing. Worst residual garbage is often from the commercials.

TVs are now computer monitors for me.

My cable is $15 a month and if I ditch it my overall package goes up.

I have a digital antennae for the TV in the other room and it sucks.  For some reason those Spanish speaking stations come in real good. I also have my old Intel system hooked up, it's wireless and wireless sucks.

I've collected older TV shows on DVD. I could do my own programming.  I don't watch the news either. Too depressing.

While I have the minimal cable package I found a sci-fi station that has MST3000 reruns and Johnny Socko.

Netflix and Hulu are not very good alternatives.  Hulu has commercials and most of the new Netflix stuff gets about 1 star.

Everything has become so politicized that there is no watching for entertainment.
