I used to use Jammer a bit and I've often imagined that BIAB was similar and  does this easily.

In Jammer you could construct a chord change sequence on a time line and automatically add jam tracks.

It never sounded better than cheesy but it let me explore chord changes quickly and easily.

yes...I imagine that BB would be an excellent way to quickly try different styles and patterns.  After you have a basic song or progression in the grid.... it's simply a matter of changing the tempo, key, and style to anything that you want.  The version of BB which I have currently has over 3000 different styles.... not that you would want to use them all.  Many of these styles are midi and as Mike points out...do sound cheesy. But for practice..... would that matter much?
However, one major drawback I have seen with it is the meter.... I don't think you can easily change to much beyond 4/4 or 3/4.  There are a few styles that are in some "unique" time signatures, but mostly you have 2 main time sigs to work with.

Since much of the music we play and listen to is in these 2 time sigs, it would probably be OK.

BB definately gets my vote due to the simplicity of inputing the chords. I use it for just that.

Followed by GP6, which is not, IMHO, difficult to use.
