Think about it.  The baseline is simply whatever the societal norm is.  What if one guy is actually "normal" in a community of people who are all bat-guano crazy?  In this scenario, that one guy is the deviant and probably labelled as psychotic, ya?

I studied psychometrics, and thought it was pretty bogus for large populations (e.g. sociology), but was predictive for individuals.  Regardless, I'm Freudian.  His insights are pretty useful for me in understanding relationships.  I hate institutional psychology...such a scam. :D:D
