Also, using Voxengo's SPAN or another tool like that can really help you locate where the harsh frequencies are at. When you use the Ctrl-click feature to sweep through the frequencies, you usually hit a range that will jump right out at you!

Speaking of Voxengo and multi-comps for diverse vocals, Voxengo Voxformer has always been my go-to VST multi-comp (with its great pre-sets) ... like 80% of vocs ... with generous (20 -30 dBs) comp.  (I just sort of take it for granted now) :)

I do ofen need warm up vocal either, the long singing time just makes me feel uncomfortable sometimes, at this time, I would like to warm up my vocal to sing better.

scales,thats how every proffessionalwarms up my friend,using scales.
the major scale is a good place to start then work your way up by haf steps until you reach a point that is almost uncomfortable and out of your range then decend.

and remember to have clean transisition going from your chest voice to your head voice,keep them the same,head voice is falsseto either so dont cheat my switching to falsseto thing thats your head voice.

push yourself and you will be betterthen you have ever dreamed.
