  • Swells + crescendos with CC11: most practical way of managing the default CC11 setting?

I want to record some string and synth parts at a default loudness level, and use CC11 to make the sound louder or quieter than the default at various points. My problem is that CC11 seems to reset to 127 when I start playback, meaning I can't make the sound louder than that, whereas it would be more helpful if it defaulted to (for example) 64 so that I have some room to move in either direction. Manually editing in a CC11 event in every clip to get around this is quite inconvenient. Is there a better way?

You only have to do this once for all your Midi tracks and then save it as a template.

Maybe I didn't explain very well. It's easy enough to put a CC11 event at the start of each track. But that only works if I rewind to the start of each track whenever I play back, which is no good for writing long tracks in sections.

I can see how that can be a bit of a problem.

You might have to insert an event at various places throughout the track in order to "reset" the CC11 controller to its default value.

I have to do exactly the same thing when working with certain keyswitch data for initialising Round Robins & suchlike
