Hi Everyone,
We just had our first  snow that stayed on the ground for a few days (it melted today). It made me think of winter and how busy everyone seems to be these days - so  I thought of sharing this piece.   As always, any feedback, advice, tips and especially the time you might take to listen are greatly appreciated.

Delightful in the best sense of the word, John.  This kept my interest and the different layers and sounds were very evocative.  At one point after 2m it sounded like electricity flashes that dissolved into a snowfall! Very creative piece -- you should be very proud of this.  Oh, and beautifully recorded and mixed as well.

Hello John

I first listened to this wonderful piece three weeks ago. I enjoyed it then and I am enjoying it again now.

You have got some great stuff on your SoundCloud page and I particularly like your new piece, Shadowed Time.

Excellent work

Cheers

Thanks Andy! I have been a bit shy about posting all of my songs. I am really glad you liked Urban Winter enough to listen to it again and thanks too for listening to Shadowed Time (my "Autumn /October song") and also for reposting!

Really nice track here John! That arp you've got going on is great. You could have built a whole song around that. For me, the only thing missing was an overall melody to hold everything together.

Thanks a lot for listening and the feedback. I am glad you liked it. Maybe I was thinking of a scene so much that I didn't think about the melody as much as I should have. I will keep that in mind. Thanks again.

Cool tune...    Nice blend of tones between the arp, chordal parts and lead lines.   The section around 2:23 has a great "snow falling" feel without sounding like Christmas... that came later with the horn and harpsichord-y parts.   Just a nice variety of sounds all around as the piece evolves.    The only small mix change I would make would be to add some panning/delay to the arp in the beginning to envelope the mix.

When I was listening to it, I thought it would be cool to have the arp pan each note randomly, then use (something like) Channel Tools to make it expand and contract using automation.
