We are uphill, so high and dry, but Houston (the Bayou City!) is in gridlock.  Photo 1 is 100 yards south (and downhill fortunately) of my house.  Photo 2 is about 300 yards east of my house.  I need a hovercar.

Mesh - define much!

Haha fortunately my house is about 50' higher than the top of the spillway for that particular bayou, so it has to be a disaster for me to have water in my yard.

I am not sure when high tide for Galveston Bay is, but all of the Bayous empty into it, so high tide, lots of rain...the water doesn't run off.

I'm surprised they haven't built some sort of drainage system.....seeing it's a known problem. When I lived in Vegas, there were similar problems (Vegas being at the bottom of the valley), but they did build drainage systems to counter the flooding.

Of course, there were some people who thought their cars were possible floatation devices and tried to drive through flooded roads (that formed a V).

Mesh the biggest problem is that we are barely above sea level.  It cannot drain easily.  And if Galveston Bay is at High Tide, it cannot drain period.

That said, we are not below sea level like NOLA.
