Excellent composition, and the playing is phenomenal as always. Dug the STP-like chords at the end.

You have a good voice. For the life of me I don't know why you tend to bury it in the mix so much. I know you're going for that great guitar sound, which you do capture, but I'd really like to hear your voice up front like a more modern track.

thanks for the review, james...

you know, when I was mixing this, i heard my voice exactly where i like it...
i don't think it's buried at all, to me, it feels like it's perfectly in the middle of this big sound,
and the louder it gets, the better it gets.....

but that said, so many have said similar things about the vocal level mixes i've done, in general...
and i'm mixing a new updated version of my 1st album (out of print) to release in the next couple of months,
and i'm making an effort to feature the vocal performances above all else...
that, and the live drums i've got on these cuts, so maybe these will be more to your liking.

i've got a new interface now (rme babyface pro) and the better convertors are translating in much clearer playback, and i'm hearing things much clearer, or flatter, or more detailed than before,
so this is changing my approach a bit as well.

Great production and performances Bats. I also think that the vocal could come up in the mix a tad - but only a gnat's hair.

My manx cat who is usually somnolent and lugubrious jumped up and started meowing the moment you started singing on this track.  Tres bizarre!  Great guitar playing and as others have mentioned you have a really good rock voice.

Hey, Rob, is this the same mix that is on the CD?  Some great bass licks here, buddy.  You are putting guys like me out of business!  LOL.  I believe I have all of your CDs but I might have missed a couple, who knows?  I think I have 4 of them?  Anyway, what is happening with the Trouble CD?  Is that the first one?  I don't know how you would make it better.  It is still one of my favorites.

killer track, the acoustic guitar tones are amzing, and then you nail the rock guitar of course. the bit from 2'30 on is amazing. some killer double tracked riffs and vocals. and listening on headphones i don't agree with James - vocals sound at a very goodlevel
