After seeing that pic, The Forum Monkeys decided to add female back up singers to restore balance in The Universe.

You may laugh but "H, R, N, K" are the note names for my quadrotonic scale which I totally invented and am in the process of developing an entirely new style of music around.

As we all know... if you play the notes "in between the notes" of the diatonic modes you produce the pentatonic modes.

In "HRNK" theory we randomly remove a single tone from said reversed diatonics (aka: the pentatonic modes) and go apenoodles freeform style until precious bodily fluids are released (whether by the performer or the listener).

IT'S THE NEW MUSICAL SENSATION*!!!

I love me some Lydian flavor and often find myself using that #11 sound  when by rights I should be using a regular major scale. But even more than Lydian, I love the overtone scale which is the same as the Lydian but with a b7. Played on its own in sequence it's nothing that special, but the arpeggios you get out of it are beautiful. I often use the dom#11 chord as the IV chord in a blues. It also works great as a bVI chord, leading to the V.

Sus2, sus4 and sus7 chords I sprinkle liberally everywhere. Even when they're out of key, they sound great. I also love diatonic stacked fourths - once you learn the stacked fourth chord scale that's instant jazz chord soloing right there.

That those are the Forum Monkeys "BACKUP SINGERS" is a deception.
All that makeup doesn't fool me!
